1 IN 3 landlords currently have tenants in arrears

The National Landlords Association (NLA), the leading representative body for private-residential landlords in the UK, has published research revealing 37% of landlords currently have tenants in arrears.

Looking back over the last six months, 44% of landlords have experienced rental arrears. This goes some way to explaining the significant rise in repossessions and why a growing number of landlords are having problems meeting their mortgage payments.

Simon Bacon of Preferential Properties is confident that through the robust monitoring of tenants rents and immediate contact with tenants, it has been able to keep the number of tenants currently in arrears with their rent to less than 3%.
